For 40 years, from 1974-2014, I performed and taught cardiac surgery at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, the Seattle VA Medical Center, and the University of Washington School of Medicine. As an emeritus professor of surgery there, now retired, I research and write articles on the fallacies that afflict modern medicine and the importance of natural and nutritional medicine for maintaining good health. I also study and write about other things--the Civil War; the U.S. economy; Austrian economics; the JFK assassination; climate change; water fluoridation; and the Beat generation. My book Heart in Hand, available online here, deals with the philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer, the films of Woody Allen, and my life as a heart surgeon.
